MLB Picks 4/22

My 3 Games I Like Today Are:

1) The Atlanta Braves vs. The Nationals

- I'm riding on the braves again today. I loved them yesterday and I love them even more today behind the pitching of Smoltz and his 0,56 era.
-The Braves are on a nice little run and it helps when your playing a minor league ball club like the Washington Nationals.
- Plain and simple the Braves are laying -201 for a reason, they lit up the Nationals pitcher Lannan last time they faced him and they are going to do it again.

2) The Boston Red Sox vs. The L.A. Angels

- The Red Sox are starting to put things together. They just had a nice 4 game sweep against the struggling Texas Rangers and they look to keep the wins coming behind ace Josh Beckett tonight.
- Weaver has stuggled against the Red Sox in his career posting a 0-2 career record against Beckett's 2-0 record against the Angles.
-I like this game alot I think the Red Sox are going to start playing like the World Series Champions, and it's always tough to play the Red Sox at Fenway. You got to go with the Red Sox laying -160.

3) The D-Backs vs. The S.F. Giants

-Just like last night I'm riding the D-Backs again, like I am with the Braves. I love when teams can pitch and the D-Backs for sure can pitch.
-They are sending 3-0 Webb to the mound to face off against 0-4 Zito.
-Yes, the D-Backs are laying -234 against the Giants but once again I feel the D-Backs have to much good pitching and when you put that against the second worse offense(1st is the dismal Padres) the outcome will usually be a win in the favor of the D-Backs.

My Bonus Pick/Risk:*) I like the Rays over the Jays in my bonus pick.

- Why not the Rays? They've been playing solid ball recently, if you forget about how they played the 1st Place Chicago White Sox. They are sending a great young pitcher Shields to the mound who has a nice 2-0 career record against the Blue Jays.
-The Florida baseball teams are playing better than anyone could have imagined, and since I took the Marlins yesterday and they won for me I'm take the Tampa Bay Rays in a close game tonight against the Toronto Jays.

Record: 3/3 (100%)
* Bonus: 1/1 (100%)

MLB Picks 4/21

My 3 Games I Like Today Are:

1) The Atlanta Braves vs. The Nationals
- The Braves right now are on a tear and the Nationals just plain suck.
- You have Hudson going for the Braves whose 2-1 on the season facing off against Chico for the Nationals whose 0-3 and after tomorrow's game is going to be 0-4.
- I would lay the -183 on the Braves, with Chipper Jones crushing the ball I see him feasting on the Nationals pitching tomorrow.

2) The Florida Marlins vs. The Pirates
- The Marlins are baseballs suprise right now leading the very strong N.L. East behind the emerging superstar of Hanley Ramirez.
- The Pirates are throwing Morris out on the mound which should be a feast for the Marlins young offense.
-The Marlins are getting a great price at -102 against the slumping Pirates, it's a bet I think you need to take for the price.

3) The D-Backs vs. The S.F. Giants
- The D-Backs are plain and simple the best team in baseball, and the S.F. Giants are the worst! The Giants burnt me on a huge 2 Team Parlay on Sunday and I'm going to take it as a joke that the Cards suck not that the Giants are a legit Major League Baseball team.
- I love the D-Backs they pitch they field and they sure as hell can hit. The D-Backs are home they play amazing at home and usually lose the third game of a 3 game set.
- You have Corria for the Giants pitching against the 3-0 Owings. Yes the D-Backs are huge favorites at -185 but you have to take it.

My Bonus Pick/Risk:

*) I like the Cubs over the Mets in my bonus pick.
- The Mets have been on a great run, but ever run has to come to an end. You have to take Zambrano and the Cubs who are currently having a peaceful nights sleep in their homes in Chicago while the Mets are sleeping after a tough lost on a plane from Phili to Chicago.
- Chicago is laying -130 take it the Mets are going to come out tired, and the Cubs are downright legit. It's a great bonus play on the day.

How Easy Is Your Website To Use?

How easy is your website to use, it’s a very important thing to know when building your site. My whole thing about visiting a website is how easy can I navigate through it, and does it answer the question I was looking for. When I visit a website there is nothing worse when I can’t find what I am looking for, or there’s just too much going on (meaning animation or meaningless nonsense). I thought the website HubSpot.com was a great website introduced to us during class. HubSpot.com offers a feature on their website that rates and analyzes your site compared to your competitors as well as to the market. I think the program they’ve created that rates your website is a great marketing probe to get hits onto their site.

When the creation of my website begins I find HubSpot.com to be a very crucial part of recognizing if the website is up to par for release. My site that I’m launching which is a National Online Golf Tee Time Reservation Service is going to be very important to know if the site is easily accessible and easy to use.

Below I’ve listed HubSpot.com link, I suggest anyone in a start up to check out the site and have their website critiqued, I think it will supply you with a great analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of your site.

WineLibrary.Com

I really thought WineLibrary.Com was an extremely innovative and great website that has been added to the web. Gary Vaynerchuk seems to know what he is doing with the website, (due to the fact that his Wine Library TV attracts 60,000 viewers a day) because the ultimate goal is to get viewers to your website. Gary Vaynerchuk the director of Wine Library seems like an extremely smart and great spokesman for the site, (I’m sort of bias to this claim since I am as well as Gary a die hard Jet fan) his vibrant personality makes it a daily routine for people to check back to the site to see him on WLTV.

The website as a whole is very easy to use and has almost every wine imaginable listed on it. Wine Library is just one huge wine store online and is a lot easier to use then walking into your local liquor store. I feel this website is a great invention, I can’t tell you how many times I go into my local liquor store to look for my new favorite wine (which happens to be Sonoma’s own Sebastiani) and they are either out of it or don’t carry it.

After learning about Wine Library I went home and tried out the website. I ordered a case of Sebastiani Merlot (which they sold to me at a discount) and it arrived within a short period.

I think wine library is extremely easy to use, and convenient for the wine shopper. I will for sure use it again and am already spreading to word to friends and family. I have attached the link to the website below, I highly recommend checking it out.

Networking…The Key to Success

Networking is the ultimate key to success in business. I completely agree with what was said in class. If you don’t have any networking experience in the industry you wish to pursue a career in, you have no right to be working in it. The majority of my knowledge I have consumed about Finance has not come from college, but has come from workers from within the industry. Setting up informational interviews as well as obtaining an internship, and establishing contacts within the industry has helped me excel at a faster rate. Creating “networks” within an industry leads to endless amounts of opportunities. From my positive and successful networking within the financial industry, I have now opened my eyes to networking with entrepreneurs. I have recently within the last few months came up with a golf website that I feel has a major upside to it and I am currently networking and learning about how to grow this idea from an “idea” to a reality. Just speaking with entrepreneurs within the computer industry has helped me more than anything. I plan on conducting more informational interviews within the industry to gain more knowledge and more insight about how to grow a successful company.

The Importance of The SalesMan/Women

I feel that the salesperson of the company is one of the most vital positions for the company to fill in while hiring. Bringing in a great a great sales person could take your company to the next level. The sales person in my eyes is so important because he is the one going out and meeting with clients and trying to sell your product. A good sales person knows how to market a product, making it appeal to the buyer. By having on board a great sales person could lead to an increase in sales. When I’ve interviewed entrepreneurs, they all said how important their sales people are. They also have told me that in the early goings of their business they were the ones on the road selling there product. When starting a business in order to save cost they told me hiring a sales person come later on. At the beginning it’s you who is going out and finding investors and showing your product to perspective clients.

They all have told me that a great sales pitch and presentation is vital to keeping the investors/customers attention and hope that they are interested in the product. They told me when they finally get to the point to hire someone it’s usually the toughest position to fill. They have said it’s the toughest position to fill because they’re putting their product and pretty much their business in this person’s hand. This person is going to be going out representing your company/product and trying to sell it. If he doesn’t do a good job selling and representing the product you could potentially lose clients, not sell your product and ultimately leading to the demise of your company. They see the sales person as a major point of the business stage; he can either take this company and product to the next level or not.

In my opinion if you have a good product I feel it’s a majority of the time going to sell and have investors involved regardless. But I do feel for a product on the brink having a good sales person could be the difference, especially when competing against competitors in the same industry.

Is Giving Up a Controlling Stake Worth It...?

I look at financing as one of the most crucial and important parts of a startup business. While working at Citigroup I’ve had the opportunity to speak to many entrepreneurs and discuss where they feel there business is and where they want it to go. Working in Mergers I’ve hear numerous times an entrepreneur wanting to find more financing and wanting to expand the company, but when they were raising capital they either gave up to much ownership of the company to one Venture Capitalist firm or, they gave ownership away to numerous investors, which took the power out of the entrepreneurs hands. Although raising capital and trying to raise as much as possible at the beginning feels like it the best thing for the company, eventually it could turn into a nightmare. Seeing your company grow, and wanting to see it grow to it’s full potential and having that dream crushed by the investors or venture capitalist firms is something I surely do not want for my company. My main goal for my start up is to make sure that my management team and I are in control of the controlling stake of the company and eventually have the final call on all decisions.
